Epilogue name for 'Clockwork Princess' revealed

Cassie Clare revealed on Tumblr this evening that there will be an epilogue in Clockwork Princess entitled "London, 2007". This came about through a question regarding the life of present day Tessa.

If we know that in COG Tessa is still alive, will there be an epilogue in Clockwork Princess talking about how her life has been for more than a hundred years?”

I can’t say — but I can say the title of the epilogue is “London, 2007.”

Now that we know that the ending of Clockwork Princess will delve into the future of the London Institute, what do we believe will be revealed? What has been the fate of Tessa, Will and Jem. Be sure to share your thoughts below.

Clockwork Princess is set to release on March 19, 2013.

Yen Press to appear at SDCC 2012

Yen Press, the company behind the Infernal Devices manga, will be making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 13th.

Here are the immediate details:

6:30-7:30 Yen Press— The Yen Press crew return to San Diego for their annual sneak peek at forthcoming projects, fan Q&A, and of course some sweet giveaways to spread the love! Room 8.

There's no real news on whether anything to do with the Infernal Devices manga will be at this event.

The first issue of the Infernal Devices manga, which covers the events in Clockwork Angel, will be released in December.

Clockwork Princess snippets

Today has been a very busy day for Shadowhunters (and Downworlders :P ) as Cassie Clare releases two new snippets from Clockwork Princess at the request of fans on Tumblr.

The first includes Sophie and Gideon, two characters that aren't often requested so thankfully Cassie was feeling generous.

Gideon touched her cheek, lightly, with the tips of his fingers. “Did you know your name means ‘wisdom’? It was very well-given.” Link

This is sweet, don't you think? What do you think this implies in regards to their relationship?

Onto the next and this time it's Will and Tessa (listens to hearts break across the universe), and Tessa seems to be expressing what most of us fans feel towards Cassie's book series. *sigh*

Tessa craned her head back to look at Will. “You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.” His blue eyes were dark with understanding — of course Will would understand — and she hurried on. “I feel now as if the same is happening, only not to characters on a page but to my own beloved friends and companions. I do not want to sit by while tragedy comes for us. I would turn it aside, only I struggle to discover how that might be done.”

“You fear for Jem,” Will said.

“Yes,” she said. “And I fear for you, too.”

“No,” Will said, hoarsely. “Don’t waste that on me, Tess.” Link

Cassandra Clare gives casting updates for TMI movie

Cassandra Clare took to Tumblr to answer some more questions regarding the upcoming City of Bones movie, which is set to begin shooting in Toronto in August.

It's been a little more than a week since Cassie revealed that Jemima West is cast as Isabelle Lightwood. Although we almost found out who Alec will be, it seems that we are still waiting for the studio to let her spill.

Have you cast someone to be simon? If so, who is it? And if you guys haven’t cast anybody yet, Freddie Highmore comes to my mind whenever i’m reading the series. Just an afterthought. :P

Simon’s not cast; don’t look out for Simon casting till mid-July, because of Reasons. (They are good Reasons.) I always think of Freddie Highmore as Jared/Simon from Holly’s Spiderwick Chronicles. That’s just my brain though. I’ve no idea actually if the casting people have discussed him.

Does anyone else wonder why Reasons is always capitalized in this? Maybe it's the fact that I've spent the last week watching Pretty Little Liars season 1, but I am totally trying to figure out if this is a clue of some kind. Cassie had said before that Freddie was not Alec either, so I guess we are still going to have to continue in this guessing game until mid-July.

I love the thought of David Tennant as Hodge or even Luke, but what do you think of Jennifer Love Hewitt for Jocelyn or as Maryse?

David Tennant love for the win of course. I think it’s interesting how people visualize the adults. JLH is only 32 I believe - very young to have a teenage daughter. And people are often surprised to remember that Jocelyn, Hodge, Luke, and Valentine are all basically the same age. Late thirties. Valentine’s a little older at around forty and I think of the Lightwood parents as being around that age too.

So, Cassie loves David Tennant, and who wouldn't? Tennant is best known as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor on Doctor Who and was Barty Crouch, Jr., in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He would definitely look like Hodge to me, but let's see what else she has to say about Tennant as Hodge.

Hodge isn’t cast. The only person who is cast but the information isn’t public is Alec. Otherwise, if it isn’t here, you can assume that character isn’t cast.

So, does anyone else have thoughts on a potential Hodge? Make sure to give them in the comments.

So I was just wondering if Max was going to be in the City of Bones movie? Because I know that he doesn’t come in until the second book, but I just wasn’t sure how different the movies would be from the books in that sense. Also, Max is (*cough cough* was) one of my favorite characters so I was just wondering if he’s going to be in the first movie or if he doesn’t come in until the second one. Thanks!

No, he’s not. I love Max too, but sticking to the book is probably the best move. I mean I sent Max off for the first book so there wouldn’t be a little kid around who had no parents to watch him (leaving him to the tender mercies of his demented older siblings) and I think that problem would extend to the film too.

I'm glad that they are keeping Max out of the movie. The closer they stick to the book, the happier the fans will be.

Hee. *Imagines signing books randomly on the lot* They’ve been really great about extending me an invitation to visit the set, so I think it depends on their shooting schedule, and my schedule, whether I visit the set in Toronto or when they’re filming in New York. I’ll keep you posted.

Crosses fingers that Cassie will get to go to the Toronto set.

When will you be able to reveal the Alec casting?

I have no idea. I am waiting for a phone call that I have no idea when will come, because that phone call itself is waiting on “scheduling issues.” There is no possible way I could know or even guess how long it will take some scheduling issues whose details I wot not of to work themselves out and then for someone to remember to call me. :)

More info on the 'Shadowhunter Codex'

Cassandra Clare gave us more details about the highly anticipated Shadowhunters Codex, a detailed look into Shadowhunter history that the author has been working on since 2004.

The notes are all being collated and put into sensible order and fleshed out by Josh, my husband, who hopefully you have come to know and tolerate from my many posts about him," Cassie said. "So basically this is stuff I have all already written, filled in where it’s sketchy by Josh, who is an award-winning short story writer in his own right and quite capable.

Jamie Campbell Bower, soon to be Jace Wayland in The Mortal Instruments, was spoted among friends in the Evian 'Live young' VIP Suite at Wimbledon on June 25.

Bower was pictured with Avengers star Tom Hiddleston and friends Tristan Marmont, Jamie Laing, Francis Boulle, Leah Weller and Eddie Redmayne, among others.

Movie Monday #6: Isabelle discusses Alec's sexuality

We are just over a year away from the theatrical release of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ and the hype for the adaptation of the internationally best selling series by Cassandra Clare will only continue to grow as the release draws nearer.
I’ve banded together with other ‘Mortal Instruments’ fansites (TMI Source, Mundie Moms, TMI Examiner and TMI News en Espanol)) for a new weekly feature called Movie Monday.
Each Monday leading up to the August 23, 2013, release of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,’ we will take a look at a scene, moment, detail, etc. and give our opinions on how we think it will be interpreted in the big screen adaptation.

This week we take a look at the scene before Magnus Bane's party when Clary questions Isabelle about Alec's sexuality. Cassie said when Jemima auditioned for the role of Isabelle, she said that Jemima was lovely and passionate as she said “I love my brother, I’d do anything for him, but I can’t help him with this”. With that being said, it looks like this scene will definitely be included in some way.

Here's my take on it:

I would like to see the scene with Clary asking Isabelle about Alec being gay. I think it shows a lot of depth in Izzy’s character. For the most part, Izzy is rough around the edges, even in her seven inch heels. However, Isabelle is absolutely loyal to her family and open minded enough to see that Alec is different than the stereotypical shadowhunter and loves him even more for that. It also gives Clary and Izzy a bonding moment. I look forward to this
moment!

Twitter 'buzz' on a possible Magnus

Though we’d all be happy with whoever is cast as Magnus Bane, clear fan favourite Shannon Kook sent TMI fans into a Twitter frenzy the other day when he tweeted pictures of himself getting his hair cut (or military buzzed, as he put it) for a guest starring role in the television show XIII. Well, yesterday in Toronto Shannon, along with other Degrassi cast members, rapper Drake’s DJ, Future The Prince and host, Much Music VJ T-RexXx, took place in a celebrity charity basketball game presented by Muzik for a youth festival held at The Canadian Exhibition Place.

Shannon posted a number of pictures on Twitter yesterday from the event and it is clear that his hair is definitely not buzzed! We’ll call it “trimmed” so all is safe on the Magnus front, and he may very likely still be in the running to play the part in the upcoming CoB movie.

In fact, yesterday (Saturday, June 23rd) Cassie Clare sat down for a chat with fans to talk further casting details. While she didn’t disclose who would be playing the role of Alec Lightwood, she did shed some light on other roles that seem to be close to filled! According to yesterday’s chat it seems that the Magnus auditions are complete, Cassie said:

"I think we have a Magnus..." and "There's a Magnus everyone agrees on but he isn't cast—they have to officially offer."

From there a fan asked her if the actor cast as Magnus was “relatively known,” Cassie replied:

"Well—I knew who he was!"

So, like I said before, though we’d be happy with any of the potential Magnus’ when we look closely at Cassie’s hint, I think it’s safe to say that we can lean in the direction of Shannon Kook for the part. And that hair... it can definitely grow out in the next two months or so!

Nonetheless, good luck to all the Magnus hopefuls in the next coming days as you begin to hear back from the studio. Thanks for being such gracious and eager actors who just want to do the character proud. All of us TMI fans truly appreciate all of the hard work and effort you put into snagging the role.
