Elyas M'Barek mentioned in AFM 2012: Meet 'The Physician'

As we all know Elyas M'Barek is the Vampire Lieutinent in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. He has another movie that will be released in 2013 called 'The Physician'. He will be playing the character of Karim. The Hollywood Reporter did interviews with the cast.

"Budgeted at $35 million and with a cast that includes not only Oscar winner Kingsley but also Stellan Skarsgard (The Avengers), Olivier Martinez (Unfaithful) and rising German star Elyas M’Barek (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones), Physician is a world away from the low-budget schlock of Innocence of Muslims.

The film is a sort of pilgrim’s progress: Young Englishman Rob Cole (British actor Tom Payne) is both blessed and cursed with the ability to sense when someone is about to die. He tries to study medicine, but medieval England is a backwater of religious quacks and superstition. Hearing of a gifted physician and teacher in faraway Persia, he sets off, traveling from his English purgatory to the promised land and to the tutelage of the Persian philosopher and scientist Ibn Sina."

Elyas M'Barek at 'Hotel Transylvania' German premiere!

Yesterday, October 21st was the German premiere of 'Hotel Transylvania' (Hotel Transsilvanien) at Cinemaxx at Potsdamer Platz. Elyas M'Barek (Vampire Lieutenant) was in attendance. He took pictures with people dressed up as the characters from the movie. Check out the pictures below!

Elyas M'Barek Interview at the Hamptons International Film Festival

On October 6th, 2012, Elyas M'Barek attended the 20th Annual International Film Festival in the Hamptons. He was being recognized as one of Variety's Top 10 Actors To Watch of 2012.

He briefly mentions The Mortal Instruments where he plays the Vampire Lieutenant.

Elyas on The Mortal Instruments:
"The other movie is called Mortal Instruments. They are shooting right now in Toronto. I did a small part in it. It is a vampire feature."

Casting News! Eric, Alaric, and "Vampire Lieutenant"

Hot casting news straight from the movie website.

First up, confirmation of Elyas M'Barek.  The site doesn't have him listed as Raphael, but as the "Vampire Lieutenant." 

"The leader of the New York vampire clan resides in their hideout in Spanish Harlem at the Hotel Dumort. He enjoys his position among his vampire brothers and views his race as superior among Downworlders, Nephilim and Humans."

***update: as per Cassie, via Twitter, "It is not Raphael. It's a different character."

Alaric is being played by Harry Van Gorkum.

Alaric is third in command in the New York Werewolf pack and a powerful warrior and respectful of the organization of the pack."

Eric is being played by  Chris Ratz.

"Eric is one of Simon's best friends and considers himself an avant-garde New York intellectual. Clary and Simon loyally attend his band performances and poetry readings and sometimes he turns out to be useful, but rarely on purpose."
