Music Monday #8: "Bright Lights" by Gary Clark Jr.

Sometimes I just like to pick out songs from artists that are currently the coolest singers out there. This week for Music Monday, I've done just that. If you don't know Gary Clark Jr. already, you will very soon. A cross between Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and something straight out of a blues cafe in Austin, Gary Clark Jr. is big news in the music industry.

You may have seen him here most recently on shows like David Letterman, Good Morning America, and artists like Alicia Keys and even President Obama sing his praises. For the case of The Mortal Instruments, everything about this this song screams NYC. It's gritty, sultry and confident.  It screams all the sexiness of Jace Wayland. "You gonna know my name by the end of the night..." Now doesn't that sound just like something Jace would say?

His new album "Black and Blu" hit stores October 22, 2012, and this Austin native was named a VH1's "You Oughta Now" artist of the month for November. You can check out his set and more of his music there, or you can go on his site for more info.

Take a listen to this and let me know what you think! It's not my normal rock, pop or ballad choice, but I really hope you give it a chance. If nothing else, get to know his music because Gary Clark Jr. will be around for a long time.
