About The Mortal Institute

Welcome to the world of The Mortal Institute! If you are on this site, you undoubtedly are a fan of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. If you've never read the books, drop what you're doing and run -- don't walk -- to get a copy of the book (or put it on your eReader).

So why have I made this site? First of all, you should know a little about me.

Get to know Amber, The Mortal Institute Founder/Blogger:
My name is Amber. I'm a mom, a writer, a marketing assistant and a lover of music, books and TV. In the past, I've helped write for LOSTblog.com because I was (and still am) a mega-fan of the show LOST. Since the ending of that series, I've grown to be a lover of so many book series that have turned into hit TV shows and movies. I have a bachelor's degree in journalism, so I really have a passion for delivering news. It just so happens that the news I like to talk about revolves around books, movies and TV! I love everything from Twilight and The Vampire Diaries to Glee and Pretty Little Liars. But with all the fangirling I have done, the world I enjoy the most belong to that of the Shadowhunters. Creating new Shadowhunters is my passion!!!!! I've had the opportunity to meet the amazing Cassandra Clare, the brilliant cast and to share my love with all the amazing friends I've made in the Shadowhunter fandom.

So why did I pick The Institute as my theme for the site? What I like most about the Institutes are that they are located all around the world as well as they belong in the past (The Infernal Devices), the present (The Mortal Instruments) AND the future (Dark Artifices). On the site, I want fans to discuss all the books, the upcoming film project(s), music and all the other favorite things we all like as fans of urban fantasy/YA books.

What do I love most about the Shadowhunter world?: Jem Carstairs (Jessa is my OTP if Jem can't be with me, of course), Simon Lewis, saying the word PARABATAI and talking to my friends on Whatsapp. You can follow me at @TMI_Institute for Shadowhunter related news and on @Lostiegirl78 for other personal ramblings.

Here's my wonderful team who keeps us all up to date on the Shadowhunter news you need to know:

Get to know Sarah (thepaisleyowl), The Mortal Institute-Gulf Coast/Blogger:
Hello! I'm Sarah, but you'll see me everywhere with the handle thepaisleyowl (two of my favorite things).   I live in very South Louisiana, near the Gulf.  I am in my 30's, a full time student, pursing a second BS in Radiology, a full time mom to a two year old and a currently baking baby, and a full time wife.  I decided that wasn't enough lol so I am now a blogger too! I have been involved in other fandoms before, but I love how amiable the TMI fandom has been. I just discovered TMI/TID around February of this year.  Amber and this blog were some of my very first TMI friends.  I love to read, when given the chance.  Last thing I read was Divergent/Insurgent.  You can find me on twitter @thepaisleyowl.

Get to know Humility, The Mortal Institute - Toronto/Blogger:
Hey everyone! My name is Humility. I was born in the Philippines but grew up in Toronto, Canada. I am currently trying to finish my bachelor's degree as a registered nurse (wish me luck!). I hope to become as a brilliant of a nurse like my mother. After I graduate I plan on travelling to Barcelona, Spain and visit Los Angeles again (just to go on the Ellen show). I am in love with movies, sports, music, watching tv shows (especially TVD!) and reading novels. Funny story about reading, I used hate reading novels as a kid. I never read anything unless I had to. But one of my friends finally forced me to read the Twilight series and The Mortal Instruments and I have got to say I wish I started reading earlier! These books have made me cry, laugh, angry etc and have made me read several other books. Now I own over 40 novels and my bookshelves are running out of space! Someday after I retire as a nurse hopefully I can be an author of some novel and create such a wonderful world for teens to read about just like what Cassandra Clare has done for me. You can follow me on twitter @_humilityc_.

Get to know Megan, The Mortal Institute - Los Angeles Blogger
Megan Kaniasty (Herondale/Lewis/Ivashkov/Black/Ryves/Shaw/Odair/Collins/Parnell...) is a 22 year old college student, ex cheerleader, and consummate fangirl for books, movies, television shows, and celebrities. She is a part of multiple blogs including two of her own created sites. She can't get enough of the social media sites Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr where she allows her nerd girl freak-flag to fly high and proud. She loves people, she loves to read, and she loves fictional characters. Megan aspires to be a published author one day, and has many works in progress.

Get to know Victoria, The Mortal Institute - Gulf Coast/Blogger
Victoria is a 24 year old FanGirl and Cosplayer located in Louisiana. She graduated Dog Grooming School in 2008 and also does office work at a metal company. She loves going to conventions, traveling, reading, writing, sketching, playing with her toy poodle Lily Kimber, and obsessing over all her favorite fandoms!
She currently has her own blog she created & runs, a vlog, and is very active on various social media sites. She met Jamie Campbell Bower back in 2010 when rumors were first starting to circulate that he'd be playing Jace in The Mortal Instruments and has been supporting him ever since. When asked what TMI characters she ships she says Team Sizzy & Team Malec and when it comes to TID it's Team Jewessa all the way! Victoria hopes to be a published author one day.
You can follow her on twitter @VintageVampyre.

Get to know Tiffany - The Mortal Institute - Oklahoma blogger:
By day, Tiffany teaches at a mundane school in rural Oklahoma. She is passionate about environmental conservation, and enjoys running 5k races with her running buddies. Tiffany is also a FUNdraiser for the Oklahoma City Komen Race for the Cure.
By night, she is a thirty-something fangirl of books, tv shows, and movies. The shows she likes best have to do with the supernatural. Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and Teen Wolf top her list.

Tiffany is fascinated with the Runes from TMI/TID series. Where there are Shadowhunters there are Runes…battle, healing, marriage, and parabatai ceremonies.
