Lily Collins talks City of Bones training with Glamour UK

Lily Collins talked to Glamour UK during the Women of the Year awards about her exciting year and the training she it going through for the upcoming City of Bones movie with Jamie Campbell Bower.

"I'm in training mode right now to film a new series of films called The Mortal Instruments with Jamie Campbell Bower," Lily said. "He's here tonight, and I'm so excited. So, we're both in training mode right now. Very physically exhausted, but I'm super excited."

Casting Rumors: The search for Simon

There's been much speculation and very little actual news as to who has auditioned for the some of the anticipated roles in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. There are several fan favorites for the roles of Simon and Alec. But really until we know for sure who has auditioned, it's a guessing game.

There's been one new possibility for the role of Simon. His name is Rhys Ward, and he has been in shows like My Babysitters a Vampire and Nikita. Many of the fans have batted around as to if Rhys has auditioned and for what role. There are some clues that lean toward Simon, and here's the proof.

Last week, our friend Alyssa at @TMI_Source asked Rhys via Twitter about the movie:

From there, he's made a few other comments that have us leaning toward him auditioning for Simon.

Other than Rhys, there's also rumor that Carter Jenkins may have auditioned, though there's no real proof to go on. I've heard that Ethan Peck has auditioned for a role, though I'm not positive if it is for Simon or another role.

With the news, or lack thereof, for casting of Simon, who do you have in mind to play Clary's BFF? Send me your thoughts below or to @TMI_Institute on Twitter. You can also check us our on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheMortalInstitute.

Photos: Lily Collins & Jamie Campbell Bower attend 2012 Glamour Women of the Year Awards

PA Photo/Glamour UK
The Mortal Instruments stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower were among the many stars in attendance at Glamour UK's Women of the Year event on May 29.

Our Breakthrough Artist has had a rollercoaster 12 months, following on from her turn in Oscar-winning drama The Blind Side opposite Sandra Bullock, rock royalty Lily Collins made the move from child star to Leading Lady, starring as a feisty Snow White in 2012'sMirror, Mirrorwith Hollywood heavyweight Julia Roberts.
GLAMOUR.com highlight of the year: Lily got physical with a totally-buff Taylor Lautner in 2011's action thriller Abduction. Not a bad day at the office, huh?
Lily says: "I haven't been to the UK since Christmas. My first stop is always the supermarket. Give me any biscuits and I'll eat them, but it has to be with tea!"
Read more of our exclusive interview with Lily in the new issue of Glamour, out now."

Lily was also honored with the UK Breakthrough Artist Award presented by actor Douglas Booth. Glee actress Lea Michele tweeted a picture of herself and Lily. Lea took home the award for TV Actress.

We are hoping to see a shot with Jamie and Lily together. Check back as more photos come in from the the star-studded night.

ICYMI: Day 1 of Cassie Clare UK book signing

Writers Cassie Clare (left) and Maureen Johnson during the UK book talk/signing on Saturday.

Fans got a look at the workings of the brilliant mind of New York Times bestselling author Cassandra Clare at a book talk Q & A at Theatre Royal in London on Saturday. My friend Katheryn at @WhereRUNow_ was among the lucky fans on hand and filled me in with all the details and sent me the pic.

Cassie read a snippet from Clockwork Princess and explained that at the end of CP2. "It's a scene where Will and Cecily are out walking, catching up, and Cecily is saying that she's his weakness," Katheryn said. "Jem is also his weakness and that he loves Tessa and she (Cecily) can see that even if others can't because he's her brother." There will be a family tree in CP2 that will show how Emma Carstairs got her surname.

Cassie Clare reads a snippet of Clockwork Princess at first UK book signing.

Cassie talked in depth about City of Lost Souls, talked City of Heavenly Fire teasers and answered fan questions. "Cassie said she was sad to be ending the series but that also excited. It was like a teacher letting go of her students," Katheryn said.

"She explained a bit about the writing process. For example she does troubleshooting with a writers circle of friends and they question her plots and character development

Here's the more details from the book signing:
  • Fairies will have a huge part of CoHF
  • In the continuing saga of the duck story, they picked up duck pie to give and then they realised they were feeding the ducks duck.
  • Cassie said Magnus and Alec would have to change to get back together. She said Alec is strong and he just needs to show that strength. Magnus needs to overcome his aversion to holding back and open up more to Alec.
  • CoHF will have war, loss, but not necessarily an unhappy ending.
  • Cassie talked about how Maureen killed Camille = she's crazy! She is a lunatic vampire with Camille's blood in her veins. She has been rogue. She kills without knowing the consequence.
Because she also has Camille's blood in her and because Camille turned her, she is almost as strong as Camille if not stronger and killing her was not a problem. Now Isabelle and Simon will be in Maureen's sights and will be in potential danger.
  • Confirmed that Amatis will be in City of Heavenly Fire "ohhh yes" says Cassie.
Weird researching trivia - the Bone chandelier club is based on a real creepy bone chandelier.
  • Holly Black got in the trunk of Cassie's car as a part of research. Cassie talked about the fact that they sometimes acted out scenes to ensure accuracy in the character's reactions.
Katheryn said that badges, a free tote bag and short story from Magnus point of view where passed out to attendees, and that those answering questions received charms.

If you live in the UK, you will still have more chances to meet Cassie. See below for all the details.

Movie Monday Week 2: Jocelyn’s Call

We are just over a year away from the the theatrical release of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ and the hype for the adaptation of the internationally best selling series by Cassandra Clare will only continue to grow as the release draws nearer.

With some help from fellow ‘Mortal Instruments’ fansites (TMI Source, Mundie Moms, TMI Examiner and TMI News en Espanol) we’ve teamed up for a new weekly feature called Movie Monday.

Each Monday leading up to the August 23, 2013, release of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,’ we will take a look at a scene, moment, detail, etc. and give our opinions on how we think it will be interpreted in the big screen adaptation.

Week 2: JOCELYN’S CALL TO CLARY

Here's my take on the scene....

Jocelyn's phone call to Clary is an important transition from Clary's conversation with Jace at Java Joe's to a more complex situation in which Clary puts herself at risk in order to help her mom from an unknown terror. I can visualize this scene being in the film. I think it will break up the tension between Jace and Clary's conversation and move the film along at a nice pace. I do, however, think that it may be a tricky scene to film because phone call scenes don't always translate well on screen unless well written. It could be that they just show Clary's reactions to the call instead of showing Jocelyn actually talking to her. This would provide a better effect when we actually see the demon attack on Clary.

Shadowhunter Tweets o' the Week

Week of May 20-26:

There's been a lot of cool news this week. The Mortal Instruments is getting a budget of $60 million dollars, and Shadowhunters again made a tweet number #1 in the worldwide trends with #NeverTrustADuck.
