Find out how you can get involved with the 'Dear Cassandra Clare' secret project.

Hey Shadowhunters around the world, the girls over at iFandoms Collide have a secret project going on that will give YOU the chance to show Cassie your love!

The project is called "Dear Cassandra Clare" and it entails you sending in a letter, photo, or artwork to PO BOX 9335 Whittier CA, 90608 USA. If you cannot send in your letter you can scan it in to ifandomscollide@gmail.com. Your letter, artwork, or photos will be collectively binded into a book along with those from fans around the world! The book's cover art is designed by a talented secret someone who we all hold dear to our heart.

The completed project will be presented to Cassandra Clare at the Los Angeles premier for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. You do not want to miss out on this opportunity! Like all big secret projects, there are rules, and here they are:

THE RULES:
1. SHARE: Please share this info with all the TMI/TID fans you know! Share on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, whatever! We want to get as many contributions as possible. But be discrete! Don’t tell Cassandra! I’m sure she may find out anyway but we’d like to try as hard as possible to surprise her with this book at the premiere!
2. SIZE: All letters and pictures have to be standard letter size or smaller, meaning 8.5 in by 11 in. I’m not sure what that is in cm but its a standard notebook paper size. If they are not the correct size, I cannot guarantee they’ll make it in :(
3. LIMITATIONS: Letters/drawings cannot be more than 3 pages. Remember, we’re trying to get letters and drawings from people all over the world.
4. DEADLINE: Letters must be received at address or email by JULY 21st, 2013. Any letters or drawings received after this date are not guaranteed to be part of the book. You can start sending them now, of course :) *PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE MOVED THE DATE UP TO MAKE IT IN TIME FOR THE L.A. PREMIERE.
5. Be Nice: Please keep in mind, these NEED to be appropriate. We are giving them to Cassandra Clare and I don’t want to give her anything offensive, crude, rude, or duck-worthy. We will be reviewing whatever it is you send us before putting it in the book so know that we will not put your contribution in if it is inappropriate.
6. SENDING IT IN: If you are unable to send it via mail, you are more than welcome to send it via email, as a scan. Keep in mind that it will be a print out of whatever you send and it may not be 100% clear. But you are more than welcome to email submissions to us as well at ifandomscollide@gmail.com

Robbie Sheehan and Jamie Campbell Bower promoting The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

“Well, I’m not kissing the mundane," said Jace. "I’d rather stay down here and rot."
"Forever?" said Simon. "Forever’s an awfully long time."
Jace raised his eyebrows. "I knew it," he said. "You want to kiss me, don’t you?”

Bromance never looked so good! Jamie Campbell Bower and Robert Sheehan reunited and it [fangirl] feels so good. Handbag.com posted this swoon worthy photo of Robbie and Jamie on the right as  Cassandra Clare shared the picture on the left of the two heart throbs having a chat about the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Speaking of City of Bones, Robert Sheehan and fiction publisher Gill Evans stop to take a quick photo together at the City of Bones preview. Is that thumbs up Robbie's stamp of approval on the film?

Video: MTV's Exclusive Interview with Jamie Campbell Bower!

MTV teases us with another exclusive set interview with The Mortal Instruments cast. The interview introduces one of the amazing characters from the book series, Jace Wayland who is played by Jamie Campbell Bower. The interview also features Lily Collins who stars as Clary Fray and Cassandra Clare, the author of the fantastic series.

Even Jamie thinks Jace can be a little of a "d*****bag" from time to time.

You can also watch the video on MTV.com and read their set report:
When MTV News visited the set of the urban fantasy (based on the best-selling novel by Cassandra Clare), the actor was quick to affirm that while his character is something of a jerk, it's a role he's relishing.
"What I love about him is the fact that he's actually a bit of a douchebag," Bower said during a 3 a.m. interview on the Toronto set. "He's not like a meathead, he's just sarcastic and rude."
And for good reason, as fans of the series can attest. Jace has a complicated background (one we'll leave vague to avoid spoilers), but suffice it to say, this history has gone a long way towards making him the oft-prickly character he is today. Bower commended director Harald Zwart for capturing not only Jace's moodiness, but that of the monster-ridden world in which he and his fellow Shadowhunters exist.
"I think there is a darkness that Harald has brought to the piece that is easily lost in adaptations, particularly of YA novels," Bower said. "And there's a reality to it, as well, which is nice. You know, it's very easy to go into fantasyland too quickly — he says wearing a dress, effectively. Every girl's got to have a little black dress — that's how I look at it."
Of course, it takes a lot more than black garb and strategically placed runes to embody the Nephilim."There's a lot of physicality to the role, as well," Bower continued. "Which has been difficult to prepare for, absolutely, but it's paid off, which is great. Like, not eating cookies is so hard."
And if you have any lingering doubts as to how effectively Bower embodies the mercurial teen, well, author Cassandra Clare is happy to attest.
"Personality-wise, Jamie is exactly like Jace," Clare said. "It's actually like interacting with Jace, talking to him. It's a little bit creepy."
Creepy in a good way, we're sure.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones comes out in theaters this August 21.

What do you think of this exclusive interview? Excited to see Jace on screen? Leave your comments below!

Jamie Campbell Bower to star in new 'Overdrive' film

Jamie Campbell Bower, star of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, has been selected to co star in the Antonio Negret movie Overdrive, which sees a change to the leading line up due to scheduling changes.
Overdrive has been long in development, which means that changes to the cast have had to be made. The original line up was going to see Karl Urban (Dredd 3D) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) star in Overdive but the two have since pulled out of the project. Now, Overdrive will see Travis Fimmel (Vikings) and Jamie Campbell Bower star in the lead roles.
Overdrive centers around two brothers, who have made a bit of name for themselves as accomplished car thieves. The two brothers decide to head to the South of France, for a permanent vacation, but things take a turn for the worse, when they get on the wrong side of the local crime.
Antonio Negret directs Overdrive, based on the screenplay which was developed by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt. Meanwhile, Taken director Pierre Morel will produce Overdrive, which begins shooting this year, with a 2014 release date.

New 'City of Heavenly Fire' Snippet!

The New York Times Best selling author, Cassandra Clare just released another City of Heavenly Fire snippet via her tumblr account. Here it is:
His eyes shone when he looked at her, green as spring grass. He has always had green eyes, said the voice in her head. People often marvel at how much alike you are, he and your mother and yourself. His name is Jonathan and he is your brother; he has always protected you.Somewhere in the back of Clary’s mind she saw black eyes and whip marks, but she didn’t know why. He’s your brother. He’s your brother, and he’s always taken care of you.
The final novel of The Mortal Instruments will come out in March 2014! This will be a long and excruciating wait until we all find out the fates of these characters we have grown to love.

What do you all think of this new snippet? Leave comments below!

Music Monday #28: A look at Republic Records and their artists

We are all very excited about the thought of a soundtrack for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. We know that Republic Records will be releasing the soundtrack. I thought it would be nice to go through a list of some of our fave Republic Records artists, and see what songs of theirs might fit on this soundtrack. If it's not exactly a song you can hear on the soundtrack, think of this as a listening sample for the type of artists that I think would be great for the album.

Now I have no clue who they'll pick to be in this soundtrack. It could be one or two of these bands or maybe none of them. I'm just solely taking a look at the artists on Republic Records and seeing what they have to offer. They have a ton of great artists. You can go here to see the complete list. Here are just a few:

Let's first take a look at a Jessie J remix of "Price Tag" featuring Rizzle Kicks. Follower thought this was a "class tune" for TMI:

How about ever fandom's favorite songstress, Florence + The Machine in the video "Never Let Me Go" featuring our very own Jace, Jamie Campbell Bower:

We also have a TMI fan fave with Black Veil Brides. I've picked their song "In the End" for Music Monday before, so let's check out "Fallen Angels":

Here's one of my favorite new bands, Of Monsters and Men, doing "King and Lionheart". This band is on the charts for their song "Little Talks", I thought this one was a little more fitting for TMI:

Gotye's 2007 "Hearts a Mess" is not as well known as the 2011 hit "Somebody That I Used to Know", but the video is wicked and the music just reminds me of Valentine. Take a listen.

Alex Clare is probably best known in the U.S. for his song "Too Close", but I took a different approach and selected his cover of an Etta James track "Damn Your Eyes". It reminds me of Jace so much and how he is hesitant of Clary, or maybe of Simon getting his hopes too high with Clary... or maybe it's just Clary thinking of Jace. LOL... Just take a listen.

I'll give you a few more right in a row so you can get a feel for these acts:

What acts from this list do you like? Share your thoughts below!

Of course Cassie's shadowhunters will help her out with the twitter trend, as you can see below #TMILondonpremiere trended worldwide!

Harald Zwart returns as director for THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF ASHES

Surrounded by a literal City of Bones, the director of the much anticipated MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES has revealed to Norwegian sites that he will be returning for the second film in the series THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF ASHES.

“That the producer and studio begin on a sequel before the first has had a première, meaning they feel convinced that the film lives up to the expectations we have created in this important audience, and then some. That I have had an opportunity to do the sequel, is something I’m both proud and grateful, Zwart said in an interview in Aftenposten

”To be allowed to participate in establishing a franchise, which they call the series of films, is something most people dream of, but few get the opportunity. So I am very excited about the opportunity I now have,”  he said when talking to f-b.no.com.

Zwart worked closely with TMI author Cassandra Clare in making sure that the movie reflected her vision.

“She used the time to explain how important it was to her that it was Harald who was directing,” he told vg.no.com.

I want to have [Geir Hartly Andreassen - cinematographer on COB] on the next well. But it’s early in the process, so we have not come that far yet. I do not even know if he can, he is a sought-after photographer,” Zwart said to Aftenposten. Andreassen is not yet signed on for City of Ashes. Andreassen shot The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones on 70mm film. Zwart explained the significance of that in the interview.

“We chose the movie because it gives much better film on the silver screen than digital production,” Zwart told Aftenposten.

Look for more news on City of Ashes as we also tick down to the final 100 days before the premiere of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones when it hits theaters on August 23.
for,” he told Aftenposten.

City of Heavenly Fire snippet!

The wonderful Cassie Clare just gave us a new snippet from the highly anticipated City of Heavenly Fire.

Check out the nee snippet:

City of Heavenly Fire snippet SPOILERS

A moment later, Helen had returned; she was walking slowly now, and carefully, her hand on the back of a thin boy with a mop of wavy brown hair. He couldn’t have been older than twelve, and Clary recognized him immediately.Helen, her hand firmly clamped around the wrist of a younger boy whose hands were covered with blue wax. He must have been playing with the tapers in the huge candelabras that decorated the sides of the nave. He looked about twelve, with an impish grin and the same wavy, bitter-chocolate hair as his sister.

Jules, Helen had called him. Her little brother.

The impish grin was gone now. He looked tired and dirty and frightened. Skinny wrists stuck out of the cuffs of a white mourning jacket whose sleeves were too long for him. In his arms he was carrying a little boy, probably not more than two years old, with the same wavy brown hair that he had; it seemed to be a family trait. The rest of his family wore the same borrowed mourning clothes: following Julian was a brunette girl about ten, her hand firmly clasped in the hold of a boy the same age: the boy had a sheet of tangled black hair that nearly obscured his face. Fraternal twins, Clary guessed. After them came a girl who might have been eight or nine, her face round and very pale between brown braids.

The misery on their faces cut ay Clary’s heart. She thought of her power with runes, wishing that she could create one that would soften the blow of loss. Mourning runes existed, but only to honor the dead, in the same way that love runes existed, like wedding rings, to symbolize the bond of love. You couldn’t make someone love you with a rune, and you couldn’t assuage grief with it, either. So much magic, Clary thought, and nothing to mend a broken heart.

“Julian Blackthorn,” said Jia Penhallow, and her voice was gentle. “Step forward, please.”

Julian swallowed and handed the little boy he was holding over to his sister. He stepped forward, his eyes darting around the room. He was clearly scouring the crowd for someone. His shoulders had just begun to slump when another figure darted out onto the stage. A girl, also about twelve, with a tangle of blond hair that hung down around her shoulders: she wore jeans and a t-shirt that didn’t quite fit, and her head was down, as if she couldn’t bear so many people looking at her. It was clear that she didn’t want to be there — on the stage or perhaps even in Idris — but the moment he saw her, Julian seemed to relax. The terrified look vanished from his expression as she moved to stand next to him, her face ducked down and away from the crowd.

“Julian,” said Jia, in the same gentle voice, “would you do something for us? Would you take up the Mortal Sword?”

It has now been confirmed by executive producer Martin Moszkowicz that the next installment in The Mortal Instruments will begin production this fall.
We still have just a little more than 100 days until City of Bones hits the big screen (August 23), and it is great news to know that Harald Zwart will be at the helm for City of Ashes with Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins on board. We've heard from some of the actors, including Robert Sheehan (Simon Lewis), that the stars have signed on for a three movie deal, so we feel confident that all the main actors will return. We are not sure if the previous statement that City of Glass will be shot immediately following the second film still holds true or if the second film will be shot in Toronto.

I'm so proud that the actors in the TMI fandom share with us from time to time, and I couldn't help but really love the music video titled "Travel" that Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace) posted on his Tumblr recently. showing his various journeys.

Take a look:

He's done this in the past with Camelot, filming a short video with cast and crew of the 2010 show. Here's a clip from that.

Jamie does a great job as a music video director. Maybe he could have it as a side job between the TMI films...just a thought. You can keep up with the musings of Jamie on his Tumblr site Things What I have Seen.

Music Monday #27: Recording of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack begins and more

In case you missed it, Cassandra Clare gave us a peek of the orchestra recording the score for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. According to Cassie, recording of the TMI soundtrack has begun!

Too cool! The whole huge orchestra and everything.
arnyvadaszok:

Recording the score for Mortal Instruments: City of Bones at Abbey Road
(x)
arnyvadaszok: Too cool! The whole huge orchestra and everything. Recording the score for Mortal Instruments: City of Bones at Abbey Road

For those of you too young to know the significance of Abbey Road studios, it's where all the most famous of musicians have recorded.  The Beatles recorded almost all their albums and singles there from 1962 to 1970. On top of that, so many incredible recent soundtracks have been recorded there like Les Miserables, The Hobbit, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, and the list goes on and on.

I don't normally start off my Music Monday posts with news, but this is the first bit of news we've gotten in a while on the soundtrack. We know the composer, Atli Orvarsson, replaced Gabriel Yared on the project.  He's worked with Harald Zwart on Karate Kid and on Iron Man as well. I'm curious to know what orchestra is performing. I know it's just a matter of time before we get those details.

In other news, we got the unofficial soundtrack from Sam Cushion. Sam is known in several fandom circles for his incredible unofficial scores, including The Hunger Games, Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars. The first of his TMI works is The Mortal Instruments Music Project Part 1: Shadowhunter. His album boasts twenty tracks, including songs for Clary, Simon and Jace. You can pick it up on his site here and on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify tomorrow.

We want to give away some copies of Sam's soundtrack, but to do that, we need to get to 10,000 followers on Twitter! We have less than 50 to go, and then we will post the rafflecopter for this drawing.

In the meantime, take a listen to the first track called "The Mortal Instruments".

Also, we are going to be taking songs for the ultimate TMI character playlist. You can send your songs (make sure to put the title, artist and wwhich character it reminds you of and why) to themortalinstitute@gmail.com.

TMI's Simon Lewis joins Tumblr

Shadowhunters, have you ever wanted to know the inner workings of the minds of your fave Mortal Instruments characters? We have some exciting news to share with you…Simon Lewis has just joined Tumblr!
Please follow him here and stay tuned for updates from him.
Official Updates can be found at his new Tumblr page http://mindofsimonlewis.tumblr.com/ as well as on Twitter and Facebook via Sony Pictures.
Here is the first musings from Simon:
BAND NAMES
Things have been great with my band (Eric, Matt and Kirk) —we have a good vibe.
I play bass and it’s pretty badass. Matt says he knows someone who could get us a gig at the Scrap Bar. We’ve been playing shows around town already and that would be cool to get in. We’ve been throwing these names around.
What do you think?
Sea Vegetable Conspiracy Rock Solid Panda Lawn Chair Crisis (that’s Eric’s idea…) The Sexist Pigs and the Fortuitous Occurrences (Thanks, Clary)

Will, Jem and Tessa Shadowhunter Tarots!

Cassandra Clare has shared more of Cassandra Jean's tarot cards with is. Below are the Will, Jem and Tessa Shadowhunter Tarot cards.

So Cassandra Jean has finished the complete Shadowhunter Tarot, so for the next … seventy-something days I’ll be posting a card a day in order, from the first card to the last. Some will be under spoiler cuts; some you’ll have seen before — I’ll explain why each character has the card they have.

I was going to post a card a day but I am several days behind, so these three cards go up together since they fit together thematically.

Will gets the Hanged Man which symbolizes someone caught in a bad situation between impossible choices.

Jem gets Temperance, which means balance, and can mean the blending of opposites.

And Tessa gets the Star, which is an otherworldly card, symbolizing magic. It also symbolizes love, vulnerability and hope.

These cards have been posted before but it’s interesting to reevaluate them again in the light of Clockwork Princess, thank you Cassandra Jean!

First Synopsis for "City of Heavenly Fire"!

Cassandra Clare revealed the first synopsis of the final book of The Mortal Instruments series, City of Heavenly Fire.

"ERCHOMAI, SEBASTIAN HAD SAID.
I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series!"

The last novel of this series is set to be released in March/April 2014.

New Photo from THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES

MortalMovie posted a new photo of what looks like Clary Fray (Lily Collins) using a stele and her and Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower) are looking through.

I wonder what they are looking at. Could they be waiting at a door and that circular image is them being looked at through a peep hole? Or is it from that scene where we see the stele being used. One thing is for certain, they look really intense!

We will have to wait until the August 23rd premiere of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones to find out! Share your thoughts below on how this still fits into the movie.

Cassandra Clare talks faithfulness of THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS film adaptation and Silent Brothers with Sci Fi Now!

Sci Fi Now got a chance to talk with Cassandra Clare about faithfulness of The Mortal Instruments film adaptation. They also talked the Silent Brothers and her involvement with the film.

Do you think the film is true to the book?
I feel like it stays pretty true to the spirit of the books. There are some things that have to be compressed and altered because otherwise it would be a 10 hour movie, which I would watch but no one else would. From what I’ve seen in terms of the casting, the costumes and the sets, it looks like they’re trying to stick as close to what was described in the book as possible.
What haven’t you seen yet that you are looking forward to?
I really want to see what the demons look like, I haven’t done yet because that’s mostly special effects, but I also want to see Magnus’ party!
How involved were you?
I was talking to one of the producers and I asked for the casting director’s phone number and he was like ‘Sure!’ and I thought ‘Gad, didn’t nobody give you the memo you’re not supposed to give me that? Fine, alright, I’ll take it!’ I called her and we talked for hours, we would talk every day for months and I had access to theservers and watched everyone’s auditions and we all got a vote on the casting. [Director] Harold [Zwart] ran by the set designs and costume, the more they consulted me the more confident I felt about the movie.
Do we meet the Silent Brothers in the film?
We do get to see the Silent Brothers and it was really fun to be on set with them because they were completely covered in prosthetic make-up. They have their eyes and lips sewn shut, so there’s all these really tall guys on set with all the prosthetics on their faces and then we go to lunch and they can’t eat, so they had these tiny juice boxes in the corner of their mouths, so there’s this long line of terrifying looking dudes in robes all sucking little monster juice boxes. That was awesome (laughs).
You can see The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in theaters on August 23.
