5 Reasons Why You MUST Watch 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' this Weekend!

Shadowhunters, today is the day! We have waited nearly three years for this book-movie adaptation to happen and it's finally here! 

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits theaters today in most countries such as the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

If you are new to this fandom, we welcome you! If haven't already watched the amazing movie trailer, you can watch it below:

We have watched the movie a couple times already and we will list five reasons below as to why you should bring everyone you know to the theaters this weekend and show them that the world we live in isn't very mundane!

REASON NUMBER ONE: Superb acting chops!

The acting from every actor in the film was spectacular! They showed more than one emotion and didn't have the deer in the headlights look throughout the movie. 

 REASON NUMBER TWO: Filled with COMEDY!

As soon as the film starts you start to giggle already because of Eric's horrible poetry. Also, throughout we get a lot of snarky remarks from Jace and Simon's sarcasm.

REASON NUMBER THREE: ACTION PACKED!

There's a whole of butt kicking in this movie and you will jump out of your seat because of the suspense! Trust me their action sequences won't disappoint! If you want a glimpse of the action watch the behind the scenes video below (skip to 1:44 in the video to see Jamie's somersault stunt!):

REASON NUMBER FOUR: Has ROMANCE!

For those who love romance, this movie has it! The chemistry between Clary (Lily Collins) and Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) is electric! Seeing it on the big screen gives me the chills, they're really perfect as our Clace!

 

REASON NUMBER FIVE: Crazy, Sexy Villain!

Most great stories have an antagonist and we've got one! Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as Valentine Morgenstern in the movie and I was frightened by him! Once you see the movie, you'll know what I mean. Valentine is the character we love to hate and Jonathan does an AMAZING job of portraying it onscreen!

There's so many more reasons why you should watch this movie but we wanted to keep it short and sweet and let the movie show it all off! 

Anyways, shadowhunters it's time to get serious! If you want all six books from The Mortal Instruments series to be adapted into movies, we have to make this opening weekend a BIG hit! So take your parents, siblings, cousins, friends, etc, as many times you can. We are sure you won't be disappointed!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Movie Trading Cards!

We get a first glimpse of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones inspired trading cards created by Leaf Trading Cards and were revealed on Beckett.com. Each pack has six cards and each card can feature photos of scenes from the movie, character cards and even photos from behind the scenes.

You can purchase these trading cards in late August in stores such as Wal-Mart and Target.

Casting Talk: Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine?

It was just announced by The Hollywood Reporter that Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been in negotiations for the role of Valentine Morgenstern for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Here's what they had to say:

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in negotiations to join the cast of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, an adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s YA fantasy novel from Constantin Film and Unique Pictures.

Harald Zwart is directing the movie, which is due to begin production this month in Toronto.

Lily Collins leads the cast as a young woman who discovers she is the descendant of a secret cadre of half-angel warriors called Shadowhunters locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons. Jessica Postigo and I. Marlene King wrote the script.

Rhys Meyers will play Valentine Morgenstern, described as a powerful but insane Shadowhunter looking to make the world pure at any cost.

Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey and Mad Men’s Jared Harris and Kevin Zegers are among the cast.

Rhys Meyers starred in Showtime's sexy period drama The Tudors and made notable appearances in such movies as Mission: Impossible 3 and Albert Nobbs. He is returning to TV by starring in Dracula, NBC’s take on the classic vampire that is going straight-to-series with a 10-episode order.

He is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
