McG named first director, exec producer for 'Shadowhunters'
Oh My McG! Deadline has announced that McG is set to direct the opening episode of Shadowhunters on ABC Family and will be an executive producer on the series along with writer-showrunner Ed Dector.
Shadowhunters, from the film’s producer Constantin Film, is slated to go into production in May in Toronto. The project expands McG’s relationship with ABCF, where he recently directed the single-camera comedy pilot Kevin From Work, which has been picked up to series with him executive producing. McG is repped by WME.
I don't know about you, but this news makes me super excited. McG has been a household name for me since his days working on The O.C. and Supernatural.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones gets one-hour show
Rejoice, Shadowhunters! Sounds like The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will have an hour long show! Whether you want to fangirl dance in your seats at school, at work or wherever you may be, we have cause to celebrate. Deadline shared the big news.
Based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling YA book series, the series will reboot the chronicle of the Shadowhunters led by Clary Fray and Jace Wayland in one-hour episodes beginning with the first book, City Of Bones, and expanding into later books as the series progresses.
Ed Dector will man the helm as writer/exec producer for the series. His credits include Unforgettable, The Client List, and In Plain Sight.
“Ed Decter brings a tremendous track record to the table,” said Robert Kulzer, co-president of Constantin Film in LA and one of the original film’s producers. “As a showrunner we wanted someone who shares our passion and love for these characters and stories, and Ed has a remarkable ability to form narratives.”What do you think of the news that we'll get a one hour show?
