ICYMI: New except for 'City of Heavenly Fire' and Cassandra Clare interview

Entertainment Weekly has the Shadowhunter fandom abuzz with the newest except from the final installment of The Mortal Instruments series City of Heavenly Fire. In an interview with author Cassandra Clare, we find out some juicy tidbits of info about the book and about a super secret TV project. (You can go to EW for the entire article).

EW: There are no advance copies of City of Heavenly Fire. How hard is it to keep everything about the book a secret?
Cassie: When there are [advance copies], I feel like I am more able to talk about [the books] in interviews and online, even though, of course, I don’t want to spoil people. But this one is under such a blanket of secrecy, I am a little bit scared to say anything. And it took me awhile to get used to that. … The idea that this stuff is kept so under wraps is really hard to adjust to as a writer, but I will say that people have read it. I have a whole writing group. They have all read it and given me notes.
EW: What can you tease about the book?
Cassie: I can definitely say that the characters go to a location that we’ve heard about, but we’ve never seen in any of the books. There is a death of a major character really early on in the book that I think will surprise people. And there are two weddings.
EW: How does it feel to finally be at the end of this series?
Cassie: Wrapping up a series that’s been going on for so long — and it’s the year after the movie came out — you really feel like this is the most highly anticipated book I’ve written and will maybe ever write. So it’s certainly an incredibly odd feeling.
EW: Now that you’re finished with The Mortal Instruments, what other projects are you working on?
Cassie: One of the things I’m super excited about is a TV project. I can’t say that much about it because it’s super secret. But it’s been really fun, and I’m really excited. Sorry I can’t say more.
EW: When do you think you’ll be able to speak freely?
Cassie: I’m guessing in a couple of months, but it’s super exciting because I love television.
Before we can wrap our heads around the two weddings (Shadowhunters, will it be Jocelyn/Luke, Clary/Jace, Magnus/Alec or maybe even Jem/Tessa?), we must first sit here squeamishly while we theorize who will die early on? We want your thoughts on this! #TMIWhoWillDie

Even maybe more exciting is that their is a TV project in the works. If you're like we are, the thought of The Infernal Devices becoming a regular TV series is FANTASTICLY exciting (right up there with a Dirty Sexy Alley Scene or Will Herondale just being who he is). What actors would you like to see on the small screen in a TID show?

Now to the biggest part of the news: a brand new snippet from CoHF.

How do you feel about this council member, Diana, telling Clary to kill Sebastian with the Morgenstern sword? Do you think Clary has it in her to rid the world of him, or should she instead find a way to rid him of the evil within? We'll find out all the answers on May 27th as City of Heavenly Fire hits bookstores near you. Until then, share your thoughts, feels, theories and more in the comments below or with us on Twitter at @TMI_Institute. @TMI_Institute

New CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE snippet

Cassandra Clare posted tonight a new City of Heavenly Fire snippet with Simon and Izzy.

“Simon,” said a voice at his shoulder, and he turned to see Izzy, her face a pale smudge between dark hair and dark cloak, looking at him, her expression half-angry, half-sad. “I guess this is the part where we say goodbye?”

We will have to wait until 2014 to find out just what this could mean. Anyone else having massive SIZZY feels? What type of goodbye is this? Share your thoughts below.

Cassandra Clare shares new 'City of Heavenly Fire' snippet for MTV Movie Brawl finals

Cassandra Clare took to Tumblr to share her thoughts on the finals of the MTV Movie Brawl and also shared a compelling new City of Heavenly Fire snippet involving Sebastian and a mysterious, anonymous girl.

First, here's what Cassie said about TMI vs. Hunger Games in the MTV Movie Brawl finals:

And we are up against … the Hunger Games. yikes. Books I love by the way. I remember reading an ARC of The Hunger Games and being like, “This is some extra-amazing stuff.” In sum, I think it’s important to remember that whoever wins this round, the Movie Brawl will be won by a movie with a strong female main character at its heart, and that is an achievement.

That said:

1) We have a cool graphic!

And

2) To celebrate getting all the way to the finals, here is a snippet from City of Heavenly Fire that I hope will be extremely mystifying. It does refer back to something in Lost Souls…

She turned to look at Sebastian, lying on the bed. He was shirtless, and even in the dim light the old whip weals across his back were visible. She had always been fascinated by Shadowhunters but had never thought she would find one whose personality she could stand for more than five minutes, until Sebastian.

New Clockwork Princess snippet

The newest Clockwork Princess was just released by Cassandra Clare via Tumblr.

No one can say that death found in me a willing comrade, or that I went easily.
Who do we think is talking in this snippet? Is it Will? Could it be Jem? Are they both in mortal danger? We will find out the full story when Clockwork Princess is released in March 2013.

New 'Clockwork Princess' snippet with Will

Since Will won his round yesterday in the YA tournament, Cassie released a new Clockwork Princess snippet.
“Will!”
He turned at the familiar voice and saw Tessa. There was a small path cut along the side of the hill, lined with unfamiliar white flowers, and she was walking up it, toward him. Her long brown hair blew in the wind — she had taken off her straw bonnet, and held it in one hand, waving it at him and smiling as if she were glad to see him.
His own heart leaped up at the sight of her. “Tess,” he called. But she was still such a distance away — she seemed both very near and very far suddenly and at the same time. He could see every detail of her pretty, upturned face, but could not touch her, and so he stood, waiting and desiring, and his heart beat like the wings of seagulls in his chest.
At last she was there, close enough that he could see where the grass and flowers bent beneath the tread of her shoes. He reached out for her —
Pardon me while I slowly die inside a little! Is anyone else just beyond anxious about what will happen in this book? I'm so looking forward to your thoughts on this snippet!

Clockwork Princess snippets

Today has been a very busy day for Shadowhunters (and Downworlders :P ) as Cassie Clare releases two new snippets from Clockwork Princess at the request of fans on Tumblr.

The first includes Sophie and Gideon, two characters that aren't often requested so thankfully Cassie was feeling generous.

Gideon touched her cheek, lightly, with the tips of his fingers. “Did you know your name means ‘wisdom’? It was very well-given.” Link
This is sweet, don't you think? What do you think this implies in regards to their relationship?

Onto the next and this time it's Will and Tessa (listens to hearts break across the universe), and Tessa seems to be expressing what most of us fans feel  towards Cassie's book series. *sigh*

Tessa craned her head back to look at Will. “You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.” His blue eyes were dark with understanding — of course Will would understand — and she hurried on. “I feel now as if the same is happening, only not to characters on a page but to my own beloved friends and companions. I do not want to sit by while tragedy comes for us. I would turn it aside, only I struggle to discover how that might be done.”
“You fear for Jem,” Will said.
“Yes,” she said. “And I fear for you, too.”
“No,” Will said, hoarsely. “Don’t waste that on me, Tess.” Link
