As we grow days closer to the casting announcement for The Mortal Instruments movie, the list also grows of the actors who auditioned for Magnus Bane.
A new candidate for that list is Jon Lee Brody, an actor, writer and director from Chicago who has appeared in movies and TV shows such as Leverage, The Dark Knight, CSI: NY and Modern Family.
According to IMDb, Jon was also a Golden Gloves boxer, an avid Martial Artist (he is a
second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do) and also was in the schools'
symphony orchestra where he played the violin. He went on to
play football at the University of Illinois. However in his sophomore
season, Jon suffered an injury that ultimately ended his playing career.
He stayed in school and graduated in May of 2007 with a dual degree in
Accounting and Finance. Jon was accepted for admissions to prestigious
law schools like Harvard and Northwestern, but he instead chose to go
against the grain and pursue his other childhood dream: acting. He
didn't wait long to buy a one way ticket to Los Angeles, and since then
he hasn't looked back.
Jon announced to The Mortal Institute yesterday that he met with TMI director Harald Zwart last month:
Jon is among a growing list of about 100 actors who auditioned for Magnus: Shannon Kook,
Eston Fung, Osric Chau, Ross Butler, Simon Raymond, David Sakuri, Austin
Ku, Ben Cho and James Adam Lim.
So far, the only confirmed casting news we have received is that Lily Collins will play Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell Bower will be Jace Wayland. There have been several fan favorites for other roles, but nothing has been confirmed as far as auditions for the other parts.
